Barcelona have ‘no record’ of Manchester United offering up to €150m for teenage sensation Ansu Fati, nor has the player been given indication there is any such offer on the table.

Fati burst onto the scene at 16 earlier this season when injuries created a first-team opportunity and has gone on to play 25 games in all competitions so far.

A report from The Times last weekend alleged that Manchester United had presented two offers to Barcelona for the youngster. The first was a transfer fee of €100m and the second included a further €50m on top of that in add-ons totalling in a package worth €150m in total.

That report claimed Barcelona rejected both amounts and referred the intermediary allegedly operating on behalf of United to the player’s €170m release clause.

A report from Mundo Deportivo (MD) agrees that Barça don’t wish to sell Fati for less than his release clause, but the Barcelona-based publication disagrees that the club actually received an offer from United and have ‘no record’ of that approach.

In any case, MD notes that Fati is also not interested in leaving. The newspaper says it has been informed by a source from within his camp that there was no proposal from United that ever reached them, not even to gauge interest.

The player is said to be ‘calm’ about his situation at Camp Nou as he is expected to soon sign a first professional contract with the club that will include a new €400m release clause.

Barça also appear happy with Fati’s progression. He is the fifth top scorer at the club this season, including a goal in the club’s last La Liga against Leganes this week.

“We are very happy with Ansu. He is doing an impressive job. You have to be patient and continue as before,” is the quote attributed to the club to summarise their stance.
