Paris Saint-Germain Star Neymar Returns to Brazil Amid Coronavirus Fears

?We all know Neymar likes to take any chance he can get to leave Paris and return to Brazil, but his reasoning is probably fair on this particular occasion.

The Brazilian superstar was seemingly enjoying his football (finally) in 2020, putting in some dazzling displays for Paris Saint-Germain and helping the French champions progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

But as we are all too aware, football has been brought to a standstill due to the coronavirus, and many footballers have been forced into self-isolation after testing positive for the disease. France as a nation is feeling the effects and the country has been forced into lockdown to try and slow the spreading of the illness.

According to ?Le Parisien, many overseas PSG stars such as Marco Verratti and Ander Herrera have opted to stay in France during this uncertain period, but Neymar has not followed suit.

?Instead, the ?ex-Barcelona man has chosen to fly back to Brazil to spend the coming weeks with his family, as the football world waits to discover when the season may be allowed to continue.

And ?Neymar was not alone in making this decision. Thiago Silva also decided to leave Paris for Brazil, travelling back home on Tuesday. PSG do not possess the authority to deny players the right of leaving the club during this period, but they did deliver instructions to their squad on how they should behave in the current climate.

Neymar has been sensational for PSG this season, scoring 13 goals in 15 league matches, helping the French giants open up a huge 12-point gap at the top of the table.

The 28-year-old was instrumental in his side’s success in the Champions League, as PSG overturned a first-leg deficit to defeat Borussia Dortmund 3-2 on aggregate. Les Parisiens would have fancied their chances at having a real crack in the European competition this year, but the coronavirus has put all thoughts of football on hold around the top five leagues.
