?The agent of Palmeiras defender Yerry Mina has claimed that the player is set to complete a deal to join Barcelona.

The highly-rated Colombian international has attracted the interest of a number of Europe’s top clubs after impressing in Brazil last season.

Mina was a key player for Palmeiras as they secured the league title, and was named the best defender in Brazil.

The 22-year-old was last week linked with a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan, but his agent Felipe Russo has since dismissed those rumours, claiming that his client is destined for Catalonia.

“Now he stays in Brazil,” Russa said, quoted by ?Mundo Deportivo. “And then in 2018 he will reach the Spanish league. Everything is almost closed.

“His dream has always been to play with Barca. Why should he break his hopes when it comes to, in my view, the best technical project for him?

“He will stay another year at Palmeiras because he is doing well and wants to go to the World Cup. For me there is zero chance that things will change.”

It remains unclear whether the proposed move to Barcelona would come in January next year or in the summer following the conclusion of the World Cup in Russia.

Palmeiras have stated that Mina will leave for Barcelona in July 2018, although there has been no official confirmation of his signing from the Blaugrana.
