The FC Barcelona manager feels the league is within touching distance but the team must stay alert to the task that lies ahead

FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique spoke to the media on Saturday to field questions about the upcoming derby against RCD Espanyol, which takes place on Sunday (5.30pm CET) at Camp Nou.

With two games remaining in the league, Barça have the fate of the title in their hands, knowing that back-to-back victories will guarantee the retention of La Liga.

Here is the pick of what Luis Enrique had to say:

The challenge

“The challenge is very attractive. We are playing our last game at the Camp Nou in what I hope will be a great atmosphere. Barça fans understand the difficulty of the match and the challenge that lies ahead.”

The opposition

“We have to focus on our transitions and on set pieces. It does not bother us if the derby is intense, as long as my team focuses on the game.”

Champions this Sunday?

“Why not? We can do it. Only we can do it this week,” said the manager, before adding: “The objective we have in mind is to win our matches to be champions, because we are in control of our own fate.”

Suárez’s individual prizes

“Luis Suárez is focused on the team’s objectives, and this will help him win the individual prizes (Pichichi and European Golden Shoe).”
