Players, directors and supporters remember the former player and manager in the form of a video, a mosaic, a minute’s silence and heartfelt applause in the 14th minute of the game with Real Madrid

The whole FC Barcelona family joined as one for Saturday night’s Clásico to honour the memory of Johan Cruyff. The whole world was watching as a 90,000 strong mosaic was displayed with the message Gràcies Johan before the match.

Once the crowd had got comfortable in their seats, a video was screened on the scoreboards featuring words of thanks to the late manager from different members of his legendary Dream Team. The entire Camp Nou then dedicated a lengthy and heartfelt ovation to one of the most cherished figures in the history of the club.

Both teams then emerged on the pitch accompanied by children wearing shirts nearing the same message of thanks to the Flying Dutchman on the front and the names of the Cruyff and FC Barcelona Foundations on the back. The words Gràcies Johan also appeared in white letters on the edge of the touchline.

The majestic mosaic was then displayed as the 99,264 voices in the stadium broke into an a capella rendition of the Barça anthem. That was followed by an impeccably observed minute of silence as the 22 players linked arms around the centre circle.

When the game reached its 14th minute, Cruyff’s famous shirt number, the stadium stood on its collective feet to applaud the memory of the former player and manager.
