Over 1,000 children from 19 different countries participate in the championship that takes place between 21 and 24 March

The 5th FCBEscola International Tournament is upon us. The first schools will be arriving in Barcelona on Saturday for a competition that will run from Monday 21 to Thursday 24 of March on the fields next to the Miniestadi, bringing together 1,211 players and 107 teams from all around the world.

“The International Tournament is a huge celebration of Barça and this year is breaking all entry records” says FCBEscola director Òscar Grau. “It will be a huge social event, mixing cultures with a shared objective of playing football according to the Barça methodology.”

“The schools work all year long to select the teams that will come to compete in Barcelona” he continues. “The director of each international project has been trained here to ensure that they know how to transmit the Barça methodology. That guarantees the quality that Barça demands.”

A total of 327 matches will be played in four different categories, with 26 FC Barcelona schools representing no fewer than 19 different countries.

Other activities

The tournament also offers a wonderful opportunity for the hundreds of children to get to know the city of Barcelona. Over Easter week a series of activities have been arranged so that they can visit such sights as the Sagrada Família and Parc Güell.

On Saturday, more than 600 participants and their families have confirmed that they will be going to the Miniestadi at 7.30pm CET to support Barça B in their league game with Reus Deportiu. The schools at the game will include FCBEscola Tecnificació Catalunya, FCBEscola Egypt, FCBEscola Santo Domingo, FCBEscola Singapore and the FCBCamps from the United States.

#FCBEscola hashtag

Many of these players have already made their presence felt via the hashtag #FCBEscolaChallenge, where FCBEscola players and coaches have shown off their ball juggling skills.
