The FC Barcelona manager, speaking ahead of the Villarreal game, is as cautious as ever in his comments about the team’s prospects in all three competitions this season

The day before FC Barcelona go on a difficult trip to fourth placed Villarreal, manager Luis Enrique spoke to the press. Talking just before Saturday’s final first team training session, here are some of the standout comments:

“They are one of the best teams in the league … They work together in a very clinical manner and have perfect command of the defensive zone.”

“The fixture list and the high number of matches are starting to have an effect on everyone and now we’re heading into the final games of the season. We can only take things one step at a time and see what happens. So the first thing we have to think about right now is Villarreal. We have to come away from El Madrigal with all three points.”

The decisive stage

“We are perfectly poised to compete for all three of the major titles. It’s all very close now, but everything has yet to be decided.”

Champions League

“To become European champion you have to beat all the best teams in Europe. We knew that it was going to be a difficult match, no matter who we were drawn against.”

“Rafinha’s return is very important for us. He’s fit again, and that’s great news for us going into the final part of the season.”

“I have been shown stats that show that the team is in better condition than it was at this time last year. There is no mathematical formula, but we are optimistic. Let’s hope they can keep up this fitness.”
