The Argentinian has scored a goal a game in what is turning out to be yet another brilliant season in the FC Barcelona attack

  • After the 4-0 victory at Ipurua, Barça have stretched their winning streak in La Liga to eleven games. The unbeaten run, meanwhile, has been extended to an unprecedented 36.

  • Two of the goals against Eibar were scored by Leo Messi. The Argentinian has scored 35 goals in the 35 games he has played this season. What a spectacular start to 2016 he’s having! In 17 games since the new year, Messi has scored 22 goals and provided eight assists.

  • This is the eighth year in a row that Leo Messi has scored at least 10 goals in the league. No other player can claim to have done the same.

  • Messi was at his best for the second goal against Eibar. He received a pass from Munir in the centre circle and took less than seven seconds, without once needing to look at the goal, to make ten deft touches and end up delicately tucking the ball away in his trademark fashion.

  • Munir was back in the starting eleven in place of the suspended Neymar Jr and responded with a goal. He’s scored seven goals in five different games this season, against Villanovense, Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey and against Malaga and Eibar in the league. In all but one of those games, it was Munir who scored the opening goal.

  • Luis Suárez got the final goal at Ipurua, finally finding the net after three games without scoring. That’s 26 league goals and 42 in total for the Uruguayan this term. He’s made 13 assists too, including the pass that set up Munir against Eibart.
