The FC Barcelona captain expects an evenly matched game and said the team is not thinking about the large advantage in points over Real Madrid

FC Barcelona captain Andrés Iniesta appeared before the media on Wednesday following the team’s morning workout at the Ciutat Esportiva, and gave his personal twist to all things El Clásico, set for this Saturday night at Camp Nou. Kick off is scheduled for 8.30pm CET.

“We want to win to get closer to clinching the league,” Iniesta said, while acknowledging the team is not focused on the gap between the two teams in the table, currently at 10 points.

“An El Clásico is always a different game, you can feel it in the environment. We want to win without paying attention to anything else.”

Iniesta said he felt better after resting this past week following some discomfort that left him out of the Villarreal game and off the Spain squad for their two friendlies.

Here are the highlights of what else he had to say:

“We have the desire and enthusiasm to finish the season in the best way possible.”

Real Madrid are a dangerous team.”

“Both teams know each other very well, and I hope the fans can enjoy the game.”

On playing after the international break:

“It is not the best scenario, but it is a normal situation within the schedule we have.”

“It will not be transcendental.”

“We know what we have to do and who we are facing.”
