Suárez, Messi and Neymar Jr reach first century of goals and are on course to beat last year’s total of 122
So much of FC Barcelona’s superb form this season has been down to the front three of Leo Messi, Luis Suárez and Neymar Jr.
On Sunday against Eibar, the trident reached a season total of 100 goals, thanks to a double from Messi and a late strike from Suárez.
Last season, the trio set the world of football alight with 122 goals in all competitions, setting a tally which seemed unbeatable .
However, the front three are on course to surpass their incredible goal-haul, as they are currently 25 goals ahead of the number they had scored at this point last season.
Leading the way is Suárez, who has hit 42 goals across all competitions, followed by Messi who, despite an injury earlier in the season, is now on 35 while Neymar Jr has 23 to his name.
They have been decisive in the big games too, scoring in league visits to the capital against Real Madrid (4-0) and Atlético Madrid (2-1), as well as the 7-0 cup semi-final rout of Valencia.
In international competition they have not gone missing either, with a double from Messi against Arsenal in the Champions League last-16 tie, and a Suárez hat-trick against Guangzhou Evergrande in the Club World Cup final.
The deadly trio are intent on winning more silverware this season, and are showing it in each passing game.
