Neymar's stellar goalscoring figures

The Brazilian star has scored 10 goals in his last eight matches for the side and his 11 goals in the league mean he is currently top scorer in La Liga

He controls it with his chest, flicks it over the defender and then volleys it home past the keeper. A wonderful goal from Neymar against Villarreal that has gone around the world, showing just what a perfect moment of form FC Barcelona’s Brazilian finds himself in. He is a leader and he can produce moments of spectacular magic that define his current performances.

Since Leo Messi was injured in the game against Las Palmas, Neymar has stepped up to the plate and the numbers more than beat that out. His goalscoring stats are incredible as he has found the net 10 times in his last eight matches. In the current campaign the Barça striker has scored 13 times in all competitions, 11 in the league and two in the Champions League. In La Liga he currently heads the list of top goalscorers for the season.

Neymar has consistently beaten records this season. The Brazilian has just moved past his compatriot Ronaldinho in the Champions League goalscoring stakes to move into sixth place on the Barça all time list, just two behind Samuel Eto’o. In the league, thanks to the two goals against Villarreal he has equalled Gary Linekar’s record of 42 in La Liga. One of them a spectacular effort that bears more than a passing resemblance to a goal scored by Ronaldinho in the 2004/05 season against Osasuna.
