A selection of highlights from the head coach’s statements to the press in the wake of his team’s latest win

Luis Enrique had to have been satisfied. His team not only showed more signs of improvement in Wednesday’s 3–0 victory over BATE Borisov at Camp Nou, but they excelled in practically every area of the game, on both ends of the pitch, two things that the head coach has been preaching recently.

His message has constantly focused on tying down loose ends and eliminating the little mistakes that have kept the team from racking up the goals, as well as the clean sheets. Tonight he got both.

Here are the highlights of what Luis Enrique had to say on a variety of topics.

On his general feeling about the victory:

“I’m happy with what I saw. We had good intensity and we created danger.”

On the latest injury:

“We try to take care of them, but it’s hard. Today it was Rakitic.”

“We don’t know the reason, but for players who play with national teams and club teams, they have a lot of minutes, and we’re not having a lot of luck there.”

“The objective is not to have certain players back to play, it’s to have the player recuperate well.”

On Munir and Sandro not starting:

“I think it’s important for them to get minutes without having to deal with all the pressure.”

On Messi-dependence not being mentioned as of late:

“The results are on our side, and we’re playing well.”

On the good defence:

“Defending as a unit is effective.”

“These results reinforce our defensive work, as well as that of the whole team.”

On Sergio Busquets:

“Sergio played a perfect game, you can’t do it any better. He’s spectacular.”
