The FC Barcelona women reached double digits in goals on Sunday afternoon, winning at Albacete by a score of 10–0. The three points allow the team to leave last week’s stinging last-minute draw behind them.

Xavi Llorens’s team attacked the Albacete goal from the first minute and sought to force Albacete to change their defensive approach. Ane had Barça’s first go coming off a corner kick, but her header went high. Minutes later Alexia Putellas put the Catalans ahead with a subtle chip shot on 11 minutes.

But Albacete did not change their approach despite the goal from Barça, which continued to dominate the game with scoring opportunities. Alexia Putellas mad it 2–0 after 32 minutes on a good cross from Miriam. Olga Garcia’s blast made it 3–0 just before the break.

Alexia and Olga combined to make it 4–0 in the second half as the former bagged a hat-trick on 52 minutes after a pass from the latter. Alexia added her fourth goal of the day on 62 minutes to make it 5–0.

Albacete had a chance to get on the board, though, when they were awarded a penalty kick, but Paños guessed right a saved Maria’s shot. Barça then put their foot right back on the gas and two goals from Barbara plus one each from Cristina, Jenni Guijarro closed out the rout. Barca now lie in third place with 20 points, two behind co-leaders Atlético Madrid and Athletic Club.
