The Belarusians record another win ahead of their trip to Camp Nou on Wednesday in the Champions League
In contrast, there are league defeats for Barça’s other Group E rivals in Serie A and the Bundesliga
BATE Borisov, already crowned league champions in domestic competition, recorded another victory this Saturday ahead of their meeting with FC Barcelona on Wednesday at Camp Nou in the group stages of this season’s Champions League. Aleksandr Yermakovich’s team ran out 1-0 winners away at Dinamo Brest thanks to a goal from Mikhail Gordeychuk with just under 20 minutes remaining. Barça’s next opponents remain 12 points clear of second place Dinamo Minsk with three games of the league season to go.
Chicarito goal not enough
German side Bayer Leverkusen slipped to their fourth defeat of the season in the Bundesliga, losing 2-1 away at Wolfsburg. Nicklas Bendtner put the home side ahead on 34 minutes but Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández levelled things up five minutes before the break. However, Roger Schmidt’s were undone by a goal from Julian Draxler with just 13 minutes remaining. The werkself are now in 7th place in the table, 14 points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
Knocked off top spot
AS Roma were knocked off top spot in Serie A when they went down 1-0 against Internazionale in the San Siro. A goal in the first half from Chilean Gary Medel was enough to condemn Rudi Garcia’s team to defeat and lift Roberto Mancini’s side into first place. Roma are now a point behind the Milan club in the table with Napoli two points back with their game away at Genoa to come on Sunday.
