“They defend with intensity and have quality in attack” said the FC Barcelona coach on a team that drew at the Camp Nou last year
Luis Enrique is taking nothing for granted against Getafe on Tuesday night. “They are a dangerous team” he told his pre-match press conference. “They defend with intensity and have quality in attack. Despite missing players they’re nearly safe from relegation and I’m sure they’ll create trouble for us.” The FCB manager is also aware that the side from Madrid managed to get a draw at the Camp Nou towards the end of last season, when Barça were also in contention for the Liga title.
For now, he’s not looking any further ahead than the midweek league fixture. “I don’t know how many points we are going to need to win the championship” he said. “But the three against Getafe are going to be very important. Real Madrid are right behind us. Getafe may not be as attractive a prospect as Sevilla, Valencia or Espanyol, but the players are the first people to know how difficult this game is going to be.”[[CITA_1]]
Luis Enrique also discussed Rafinha, who featured in Saturday’s derby with Espanyol. “He’s having a very good season” said the Asturian. He has played more at certain times than he has at others, but I have 100 per cent faith in him. He faces a lot of competition for that position”.
And as for the return of Thomas Vermaelen, who was declared fully fit on Sunday, Luis Enrique commented that “it’s very good news for him and for the team. Now he needs to get into the right rhythm. Of course he’ll help us, let’s see whether that is on or off the pitch.”
