Ter Stegen kept a clean sheet for Germany, who are as good as through after a comfortable victory over Ukraine

The Spain U21 team has drawn the first leg of its Euro 2015 qualifying playoff against the Czech Republic. Sergi Roberto played all 90 minutes and posted a sound performance. Barça’s Gerard Deulofeu, on loan at Sevilla, was the visiting side’s most dangerous player, and there were claims for a penalty on him in the first half.

Spain struggled after the break, and Serbia started creating chances of their own, although Saúl almost scored for the Spaniards after 70 minutes with a strike that skimmed off the wrong side of the post. That was the last real chance of a game that petered out to an uneventful ending, with neither Munir nor Sandro being sent on by manager Albert Celades. The second leg in Cadiz is next Wednesday, kick off 6.00 PM CET.

One German foot through the door

Ter Stegen is celebrating after his national side won 3-0 away to Ukraine to as good as seal passage to the finals in the Czech Republic next year. It was a quiet night for the Barça keeper, but what he did, he did well, and his footwork was especially impressive.
