The two players now know what shirt numbers they’ll wear this season

Only Gerard Deulofeu’s number has yet to be revealed

The new shirt numbers for the 2014/15 season have now almost all been revealed, and the latest two players to have theirs confirmed are Rafinha and Sergi Roberto, which will be the same numbers that they already been wearing during the preseason

Sergi Roberto, from 24 to 20

The 24 that Sergio Roberto wore last year has been taken by Jérémy Mathieu. Before that, he wore number 28 (2010/11 and 2012/13) and 30 (2011/12) when he made first team appearances.

The number 20 was Deco’s choice throughout his period at Barça from 2004 to 2008, after which it was inherited by Dani Alves in 2008/09, and then Afellay from 2010 to 2013. Last season, Cristian Tello had the number 20 on his back.

Rafinha’s lucky number

Rafa Alcántara has decided to keep the same number that has served him so well at Barça B and Celta, namely the number 12 that was given up by his good friend Jonathan Dos Santos after two years with the first team. Before the Mexican, the previous number 12 in the FCB squad was Giovanni van Bronckhorst from 2003 to 2007.

This is the first time Rafinha has been able to use his favourite number in first team games. When he played alongside his brother Thiago against Benfica in the 2012/13 Champions League, he wore the 30 shirt, and in his other two first team matches, against Bate Borisov in the UCL and Hospitalet in the Spanish Cup, he was given number 34.
