The midfielder said that “when you finish a season empty handed you want to start winning things again”

He adds that Luis Enrique “is very clear about his ideas” and that Xavi staying is the best possible news

On Luis Suárez, he comments that “he’ll bring ambition, hard work and mobility. He was one of the best signings with the next few years in mind”

Andrés Iniesta gave his first press conference of the 2014/15 season on Friday morning. He spoke of his high hopes for the season ahead, saying that “the challenges are the same as they are every season – to win titles. And to do that it’s important to get things right from the start”.

The main man responsible for ensuring that happens is new manager Luis Enrique, who was the very first player that Andrés Iniesta spoke to when he trained with the first team for the first time ever. Iniesta explained that the Asturian gave him a lift to the ground that day, and “we have had an excellent relationship ever since. I’m delighted that he’s here. I think this could be a very good season. He’s very clear about his ideas. Players have to believe in their manager and what he says.”[[CITA_1]]Iniesta also commented on the arrival of Uruguayan Luis Suárez:, saying that “he’s one of the best strikers in the world. He’ll bring his ambition to score goals, his hard work and his famous mobility. For midfielders it’s so important to have a player like that in front of us. He’s one of the best signings, not just for now but for the next few years”. However, Iniesta felt it would be in the best interests of the club if he didn’t comment on how Suárez is currently suspended from even training with FC Barcelona.

He also spoke about his joy to learn that Xavi Hernández will not be leaving the club, despite rumours of his departure this summer. “He’s still a Barça player and that’s the best news we could wish for” he said. “I’m delighted. It means so much to have a player that’s been with the team so long and it would be really odd for him not to be here. It was one of the best pieces of news this summer.”[[CITA_2]]On the many changes to the first team, he said that “the club has covered the team’s needs … These days if you don’t get things right, it’s hard to win. After a year without winning any tiles, you just can’t wait to get out there and start winning things again.”
