Barça v Getafe, Third highest league attendance at the Camp Nou

85,610 fans attended the match in the Camp Nou this Sunday on the day the stadium hosted the first noon kick-off for many years

Only the league games against Real Madrid (96,589) and Atletico Madrid (86,637) recorded higher attendances

Chinese New Year Greetings

The match against Getafe also served to help celebrate the Chinese New Year, with the game being broadcast live in China. Both team captains took to the field holding the hand of a child wearing a commemorative T-shirt welcoming in the Chinese New Year.

Throughout the week, the match has been promoted via the Chinese version of the Club’s website and in the lead up to the kick-off, the stadium video screens showed images of the new Chinese Barça Toon, Xiao Sa (which means ‘Little Barça’ in Chinese). The traditional team photo with children before the match also featured a banner celebrating the Chinese New Year.

The game between Barça and Getafe, played at the novel time of 12 midday, attracted no fewer than 85,610 people to the Camp Nou, the third highest attendance of the league campaign, superseded only by the 96,589 who watched the game against Real Madrid and the 86,637 who turned up for the match against Atletico Madrid.

Apart from the league itself some 91,728 fans attended the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid in August. So putting aside the two El Clásicos, the match against Getafe ranks as the second best attendance of the season.

27,528 tickets sold

Their was a family atmosphere in the Camp Nou today with many parents taking advantage of the early kick-off to bring their children to enjoy the football and the winter sunshine. A total of 27,528 tickets were sold for the match – one of the best ticket sales of the season – the rest of the spectators using their season tickets.
