22.00, Telecinco: The Blaugrana will battle it out with Málaga for a spot in the semifinals of the Cup after the 2-2 from the away leg
The winner will go on to face Real Madrid in the next round
David Villa was named to the team after he received the medical all-clear to play earlier this week
The Blaugrana come into tonight’s do-or-die match at La Rosaleda after the 2-2 result from the away leg at the Camp Nou. A defeat or a 0-0 or 1-1 draw would see the Blaugrana out of the competition. Barça need to win (or manage a 3-3 draw or higher) to go through to the semifinals. Of Barça’s last five trips to Málaga, the Catalans have won all of them. If Barça defeat Málaga they’ll face Real Madrid in the semifinals.
Villa returns
The Blaugrana come into the quarterfinal showdown after failing to win their last two games: the away leg of the Cup and the Liga match against Real Sociedad. Therefore, it will be a test of mental strength for Tito’s men.
The coaching staff will be able to call upon David Villa, who successfully recovered from a hamstring injury earlier this week. Gerard Piqué, who recently became a father for the first time, will also be with the team. Montoya, Bartra, Cuenca and Dos Santos were not named to the team.
Málaga want to make history
Málaga have a historic chance to make it to the semifinals of the competition. The team led by Manuel Pellegrini are on exceptional form, however they haven’t won in their last three La Liga matches.
The Chilean manager won’t be able to call on Isco, Toulalan and Monreal, but he will be able to use Lucas Piazón.
