Training session at 11.00

The first team will return to training tomorrow at 11.00, at the Ciutat Esportiva. Javier Mascherano will talk to the press after the training session.

Da Luz Stadium, where Barça played on matchday 2 of the Champions League Group Stage, was the last stadium to witness a goal from Alexis Sánchez, until this evening. This Thursday, the Chilean was reacquainted with his goalscoring form. Apart from his traditional runs into space and tireless defensive work up top, the Blaugrana scored two of his team’s five goals.

“Goals give me confidence,” he said after tonight’s match against Córdoba. He added: “I’m very pleased that we won and that we’re in the quarter-finals.” It’s worth noting that the Chilean, a player that’s known for his tireless work ethic, knows that “Barça play like this in every game. Even if we have an advantage, we go all out.”

Here are the statements made by the FC Barcelona players after the match:

Bartra:

“We knew from the start that we couldn’t allow ourselves to relax. These types of games can get complicated and we went all out from the start to score goals and to stop them from scoring.”

“It’s important for me to get some playing time so that I can feel comfortable on the pitch at the stadium. We have a lot of games coming up and it’s important that the whole team is prepared.”

“We’re fighting for all of the titles and that means we have more games to play. I have to continue training hard in order to get more chances to play.”

“We’ll try to win all of our matches against Málaga. We need to take them one game at a time.”

Thiago:

“This ambition and seriousness with which we started the game defines us. That’s why we are where we are.”

“I’m more comfortable because my teammates make it easy, when we’re all united it works out well.”

“We’re all pleased for Alexis because we know that scoring is important to him.”
