Recently, it seems that Leo Messi sets a new record in every game! His latest achievement is to equal César Rodriguez’s long-standing record of 190 league goals for Barça
The Argentine has reached this total in just 228 matches, compared to César’s 287. On 20th March this year, Messi overtook César to become the highest scorer in the history of the Club in all competitive matches. If we include friendlies, the ranking of the Club’s top scorers is as follows. First, Paulino Alcántara (369), second Josep Samitier (333), third Messi (303) and fourth César (301).
Messi on fire
Leo Messi is enjoying an extraordinary run of form which has seen him score 21 goals in just 14 league matches. He has hit the back of the net in the last six consecutive matches, including league and UCL, and is now just one goal short of Gerd Müller’s all-time record of 85 goals in a calendar year (1972).
