On Saturday, David Villa is up against one of his former clubs, against whom he has won seven games and drawn four, scoring three goals

He made his first division debut at the Aragonese club and has played against them while wearing the shirts of Sporting, Valencia and Barça

Saturday’s Liga match (20.00, GolT and Canal +) between Barça and Zaragoza will be a special one for striker David Villa, for it was at the visiting club that he made his top flight debut in 2003/04. He was only there for one year before he moved on Valencia.

Eleven wins, seven wins and four draws

He first faced Zaragoza in 2002/03, in the second division when he was still at Sporting Gijón. Both games ended in draws and Villa failed to score.

After his year in Aragon, he faced his now former team six times while on Valencia’s books. The first two meetings both ended 2-2, with Villa scoring in the first. Since then, he has always been on the winning side in clashes with Zaragoza. In four wins while at Mestalla, he scored one goal in the 2009/10 season, his last before his move to the Camp Nou.

3 out of 3 with Barça

In the last three seasons ‘el Guaje’ has met Zaragoza three times, and won every time. In his first season at Barça he went to La Romareda on October 23, 2010 winning 2-0, and later on that same season his side won again, 1-0 at the Camp Nou.

His last encounter with his old team was in November 2011, which marked David Villa’s biggest win to date against the ‘maños’, 4-0, and he scored one goals in his 27 minutes on pitch.
Saturday brings his twelfth meeting with Zaragoza, and having found his goalscoring form of late, he could potentially cause more damage to his former club that ever.
