The Catalan midfielder warned of the “potential” of Spartak Moscow, but insisted the team” are only thinking about winning” at the Luzhniki Stadium.

Fabregas reckons the team won’t go for a draw to ensure qualification for the knock out rounds.

“We want to win, we always play our way and we’ll just have to adapt that to whatever they do”

Barça can expect freezing temperatures, an artificial pitch and a tough opponent on Tuesday, but in his press conference this afternoon, Cesc Fàbregas declared that the team is ready to compete in what will certainly not be the conditions they are used to.

“The artificial pitch and cold won’t be a problem or an excuse”, according to Fabregas, but he was wary of Tuesday’s opponents: “we could see their potential when they came to the Camp Nou, it’ll be difficult”, explaining: “all teams in the Champions League are always dangerous and it’s always a tough task in Russia. It will be a hard game, but we are not thinking about holding out for a draw, just because that will see us through – we want to win, we always play our way and we’ll just have to adapt that to whatever they do”.

Happy with his appearances

Asked about his chance of starting the game, Fàbregas explained: “I always try to give my best and then the boss has to decide, I’m playing a lot and I am happy. We have players who can compete and come in and freshening up the team is always a good thing”. Cesc also believes there is no problem with he and Andrés Iniesta starting together and also spoke about the significance of the return of Carles Puyol: “he’s vital, he never gives up and always wants to improve”.
