Martín Montoya, one of the three Barça players in Spain’s starting line-up, put in a notable performance against Denmark. Barça’s first team player was a constant threat on the right wing. In fact, Montoya assisted Muniain for the opener. The Athletic Club player, on 24 minutes, finished off a brilliant play that started with a pass from Isco for Montoya, who served up a great assist for the first goal of the night. Carles Planas and Tello also played from the start, and the Blaugrana forward had a couple of chances to double Spain’s lead.
Sergi Roberto plays the second half
The second half started with the 0 to 1 on the scoreboard. Álvaro Vázquez scored Spain’s second goal on 61 minutes. Four minutes later, Sergi Roberto came out onto the pitch. The Danes looked to score at least one goal and they found it on 91 minutes. But before the referee ended the game, Álvaro Vázquez netted his second of the night. Julen Lopetegui’s will be in next year’s U-21 Euro thanks to the aggregate result of 8 to 1 over Denmark.
