The Cameroon national team were deprived of a spot in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations despite winning this Sunday against Cape Verde (2-1). The Blaugrana Song featured in the starting line-up for Cameroon
Alex Song won’t participate in the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. The Cameroon national team was unable to overturn Cape Verde’s two-goal advantage this afternoon in Yaundé, despite Eto’o’s return to international play. The Blaugrana player was named to the starting line-up and played the entire match in the defensive midfielder position.
Cameroon fell behind Cape Verde on the 22nd minute. Song’s team battled back to establish parity on the scoreboard before the half thanks to a goal from Emana. Idrissou fired Cameroon ahead in the dying minutes of the second half but it wasn’t enough to overturn the result from the away leg. The Africa Cup of Nations will be played from January 19 through February 10 in South Africa.
