The Catalan defender trained alongside the rest of his team-mates this afternoon ahead of Sunday’s clash with Real Madrid
Carles Puyol, who is recovering from injury, watched the training session on the sidelines with the ex-Blaugrana Rivaldo
The team managed by Tito Vilanova trained behind closed doors this Saturday afternoon at the Camp Nou at 18.00, in what was the penultimate session before tomorrow’s showdown with Real Madrid. Without a doubt, the big news this afternoon was that Gerard Piqué returned to training with the group. Carles Puyol and Rivaldo watched the session from the sidelines.
It’s worth noting that the Catalan defender picked up an injury in the Champions League match against Spartak Moscow. Medical tests confirmed that Piqué had sprained his left foot and that he’d miss at least two to three weeks of competitive play. Piqué started his recovery process on September 19 and today, 24 hours ahead of the Clásico, he was able to return to training.
Final training session on Sunday
Just like on Friday, in addition to Piqué, all the available first team players and Barça B’s Sergi Roberto and Tello trained under the watchful eye of Vilanova. The team will train one last time on Sunday morning before the match against Real Madrid (at 11.30). The players will remain together after the session to avoid potential delays in accessing the stadium due to the public transportation strike.
