The Blaugrana midfielder was named the best player of the match after tonight’s match against Sampdoria

Training session on Wednesday

The team will have Tuesday off and return to training on Wednesday afternoon, at 19.00. The closed-door session at the Ciutat Esportiva will serve to prepare the team for the away leg of the Spanish Supercup against Real Madrid (Thursday, 22.30). Tito Vilanova will hold a post-training press conference.

Sergi Roberto:

“I was surprised when I was presented. When I arrived I was told I’d be going out. Maybe it’s a sign that I’ll be with the first team for a couple more days. It also forces me to be ready.”

“The best players in the world play in my position. I’m trying to learn from them because it’s an honour to be on the same team. There is a before and after these players, I don’t think we’ll ever get to see players with their quality ever again.”

Marc Bartra:

“The match against Sampdoria served to get a bit of rhythm, play more minutes and show what we’re made of and how eager we are to play.”

“I have to take advantage of each training session, of every minute I have with the ball.”

“I try to apply all of the guidance given by Puyol, Mascherano or Piqué on and off the pitch.”

“It was one of the happiest days. I’ve been fighting for a long time to be part of the first team.”

“I hope Abidal can return. He’s offered me a lot of help in the dressing room.”

Martin Montoya:

“I’ll get playing time if I work hard and if I learn from my team-mates. There are 70 matches in a season and I’m sure that I’ll get to play.”

“I’m very pleased with the fans and I’m happy to be part of Barça’s first team.”

Sergi Gómez:

“It’s a dream come true to play in the Camp Nou. It’s a shame that we lost.”

“I’ve always looked up to Marc Bartra and Andre Fontàs.”
