After getting the medical all-clear this Tuesday, the Azulgrana center back played most of the second half against Dinamo Bucharest
Andreu Fontàs has completely recovered from his right-knee ligament injury. The Azulgrana defender returned to competitive football in FC Barcelona’s last pre-season match of the summer, against Dinamo Bucharest. Fontàs played the better part of the second half against the Romanian team as he made his way onto the field, with the number 24 on his back, on the 62nd minute for Marc Bartra.
He was only on the pitch for 30 minutes but it was evident that he’s match fit as he intercepted numerous passes from the Romanian players.
“I felt comfortable”
After the match, Fontàs explained that he “felt comfortable on the pitch because I’ve been training for nearly a month with the team and I haven’t had any problems.” The Azulgrana center back also noted that tonight’s match served “gain some confidence” and that “it was a bit difficult because the pitch wasn’t in the best condition.”
Completely healed
Fontàs, who has trained with the team all summer, was given the medical all-clear this Tuesday after being sidelined for seven months. On January 12 at the Reyno de Navarra, the Catalan tore the ACL in his right knee.
