On 30 March Barça and Athletic Bilbao will meet in the final of the Spanish Cup at Camp Nou. The stadium has previously been used for eight finals in four separate competitions. The game against the Basque club will be the fourth Spanish Cup at Barça’s ground. The first came on 23 June 1967 when the blaugranes beat Zaragoza 3-1 to claim the trophy. Seven years later in June 1970 Real Madrid lifted the Cup thanks to a 3-1 over Valencia. The last time the final was played at Camp Nou was in June 2010 with Sevilla overcoming Atlético Madrid 2-0.

Two Cup Winners Cup finals

The blaugrana stadium has twice hosted the European Cup Winners Cup final. The first came in 1972 with Scottish club Glasgow Rangers beating Dynamo Moscow by three goals to two. The second saw Barça claim their second Cup Winners’ Cup victory with a 2-0 win over Standard Liege in May 1982, Simonsen and Quini were the scorers that day.

The Champions League final too

Camp Nou has also seen two finals in Europe’s premier club competition. Still under its former name of the European Cup, Arrigo Sacchi’s AC Milan side containing Frank Rijkaard brushed aside Steaua Bucharest 4-0 in the final in Barcelona in 1989. Ten years later the stadium was once again the venue for the final of what was now known as the Champions League. Manchester United claimed a famous victory over Bayern Munich with two later goals in a 2-1 win to lift the famous trophy.

Olympic final

In the summer of 1992 Camp Nou was packed to the rafters to see the final of the Olympic football tournament between Spain and Poland. A local side containing the current Barça coach, Luis Enrique as well as Pep Guardiola, Albert Ferrer and Abelardo Fernández took the gold medal thanks to a thrilling 3-2 victory.
