5:00 PM CET, Canal+ Liga and Gol T: Barça host Osasuna at the Camp Nou with no margin for error one week ahead of the Clásico
Leo Messi could become FC Barcelona’s all-time highest goalscorer
Tata Martino won’t be able to call on Piqué or Puyol, both injured
FC Barcelona will play a crucial game this Sunday afternoon when they host Osasuna at the Camp Nou (5:00 PM CET). Madrid’s victory at La Rosaleda on Saturday leaves the Blaugrana seven points adrift from the top spot of the table, therefore there is no margin for error ahead of next week’s Clásico. The team just qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League against Manchester City, but they also were defeated last week by Valladolid in La Liga.
Big night for Leo
Today Leo Messi has everything in his favour to be the star of the night. On Wednesday he scored his 368th goal for Barça and if he scores one more goal he’ll equal Paulino Alcántara’s all-time goalscoring record for the Club (including friendlies and official matches). It’s worth noting that Messi is already FC Barcelona’s all-time highest scorer in official competitions.
The Argentinian was named to Tata Martino’s 18-man team. However, Puyol and Piqué (injured) won’t suit up for the game, neither will Sergi Roberto, Afellay and Oier (technical decision) nor Dos Santos and Cuenca (injured).
Osasuna come into the game at the Camp Nou with a cushion of three points over the relegation zone. The former Barça player Oriol Riera is Osasuna’s most threatening attacking player, even though the Navarre team struggle to score away from El Sadar.
